As a member of the Airframe subteam, I contributed to the design and manufacturing of the plane's structure. For this project, I led the conversion of the wing tip from a carbon fiber composite to wood and MonoKote. Carbon fiber composites are expensive to manufacture and require signficant time to develop molds for the layups. MonoKote is a lightweight plastic shrink wrap that's far cheaper and more accessible, while still boasting a comparable strength to weight ratio.
