Modeled after Carhartt's Detroit-style jacket, it features two breast pockets that extend down the central zipper to reveal dozens of hidden pouches. The jacket can be transformed into a handheld, or over-the-shoulder bag depending on the user's preferences. (During boarding I would suggest wearing it or holding it like a jacket to avoid suspicion!) I also used this project as the subject for my website design class, creating a storefront in Figma and promotional material with After Effects.
I'd always wanted to learn how to sew, and this jacket was the perfect opportunity. It not only sustained me on my trips around Europe, but also led to the surprising realization that there's significant crossover in design for fashion and mechanical engineering. They both follow the same tenets of DFA, DFM, and DFS, have thorough testing procedures for materials, etc. It's exciting to know that the skills I'm learning at Cornell are more broadly transferrable than I initially thought (and vice versa).
